Submission to the RBNZ on Digital Cash

Payments NZ has made a submission to the Reserve Bank of New Zealand Te Pūtea Matua in response to its consultation on Digital Cash Moni-matihiko.
We support the Reserve Bank continuing its Stage 2 exploration of the case for Digital Cash and the role it might play in Aotearoa New Zealand’s digital, money and payments ecosystem.
We acknowledge the considerable work that has been done by the Reserve Bank already.
However, there are still a number of issues and unknowns that need to be addressed, so that an informed decision can be made about progressing to Stage 3. Our submission aims to constructively highlight these.
