These members join our wider membership base, which includes our 11 Direct Settlement Participants ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, HSBC, ICBC, KIWI, NZ Depository (NZX), TSB and Westpac, says Payments NZ Chief Executive, Steve Wiggins.

“Payments NZ membership helps businesses in New Zealand stay connected, contribute to the development of payments system standards and stay close to the future strategic direction of the fast moving payments environment.

“For us, having members who are close to the action of payments helps ensure that new information and fresh perspectives directly contribute to maintaining safe, efficient, and innovative payments systems.”

Payments systems rely on the coordinated efforts of many different organisations, meaning that Payments NZ caters to a variety of business types within its membership.

“Our three membership types reflect the different kinds of organisations in the payments system, and the part they play in making it work,” says Mr Wiggins.

  1. Infrastructure: Members provide infrastructure services to the operation of our clearing systems and are involved in their governance, including strategic direction, operational management and development.

  2. Standards: Members provide or use payment instruments covered by our clearing system standards and are involved in their development.

  3. Industry: Members are part of industry-focused strategic conversations and strategic initiatives.

Payments NZ membership is the best way to stay involved with the system of invisible connections that underpins the entire economy, and to be part of the conversations that contribute to its future growth, direction and development.
