Phil Cass, API Centre Manager, Payments NZ
Phil Cass is the API Centre Manager and leads the Payments NZ API Centre team and works collaboratively with the open banking ecosystem to design and deliver the API Centre’s standards and services and lead open banking for Aotearoa New Zealand. Phil has a financial services background, having spent 15 years in the UK working on mergers and acquisitions, and setting up target operating models within large global banks.

Nigel Somerfield is the lead architect at Payments NZ’s API Centre. As an enterprise architect and technical consultant, he has significant experience across both the public and private sector including financial services, government, and education. His expertise extends across small tactical solutions to large-scale, strategic initiatives focussed on delivering transformational and innovative solutions.

Tina Groark, Open Banking Specialist, Glueware
Tina Groark is the Open Banking Specialist for Glueware, part of The Middleware Group of companies. Glueware assists New Zealand banks to comply, compete, and innovate in a new open banking world. Glueware’s Open Banking Accelerator suite delivers secure, ready-to-use APIs so banks can quickly establish an open banking presence, creating new opportunities for partnering through APIs.

Vinesh Hansjee, Head of Enterprise Architecture, Worldline NZ
Vinesh Hansjee is the Head of Enterprise Architecture at Worldline NZ. Vinesh has a keen interest in the evolution of payments and digital identity in NZ. He has been instrumental in the development of OPEN – Worldline New Zealand’s open banking payments platform – and is an inaugural member of the technical working group at the Payments NZ API Centre. Vinesh has broad experience in the technology industry across various sectors such as financial, media, and telco.

Carl Samuelson, Technical Consultant, ASB
Carl Samuelson is a Technical Consultant at ASB who is highly engaged with the banking API landscape. As an experienced member of the Payments NZ API Centre’s technical working group, he has witnessed the evolution of its open banking standards from early inception to its current state. Carl is looking forward to sharing his enthusiasm for open banking.

Zhuo Wang, API Designer, Bank of New Zealand
Zhuo Wang is currently working as an API designer in the engineering domain at the Bank of New Zealand based in Wellington. Her responsibilities involve contributing to BNZ’s API development initiative with a focus on understanding business vision and its functions for various internal business units. She is passionate about using technology to solve business problems, enhancing the API consumer experience, and promoting industry best practise to build enterprise financial grade API. Previously, Zhuo worked as lead developer on an open banking payments API project at BNZ. She is also part of the Payments NZ API Centre’s technical working group.
